Coaches and Welfare

Junior Head Coach

Lynne Hacon

I have been a member of Striders since 2003 as a running member.
In 2013 my husband, asked if I would support him at the Outlaw half triathlon. My response was – “how long is it going to take you?” On hearing his response I decided to have a go rather than spectate for several hours.
Since then I have competed in many triathlons from Olympic to Ironman distances.

Being a member of the club has enabled me to train with likeminded people. Becoming a coach has provided the opportunity to support others on their triathlon journey.

I’ve enjoyed being active in sport from a young age through swimming, running and squash. I turned to triathlon about 10 years ago and now enjoy keeping fit with friends from the club and taking part in events of any distance from sprint distance to ironman.

Striders Juniors is here to get children to actively participate and enjoy physical exercise from a young age, learning new skills whilst having fun!

I have always enjoyed sport and the outdoors, with running a big part of my life for many years now. The freedom of being able to put on a pair of running shoes and get outside is something I always feel grateful for. In recent
years I have started to do more swimming and cycling and look towards taking on some multisport events.

Having been a member or the club for several years now I have really valued the support, encouragement, and community it brings to a sport I love. The juniors are brilliant extension of this. Providing positive sporting opportunities and experiences for local young people to access, along with all the physical
and mental health benefits this can bring. With a background of working with children and young people I was more than happy to support in the role of Junior Welfare Officer.
